Abha Bhattarai is the Economics Correspondent at The Washington Post, where she covers the U.S. economy with an eye toward how data and policies affect everyday Americans. She previously covered retail for the publication and won the Gerald Loeb Award for her coverage of essential workers during the pandemic. Prior to that, Abha was a James Reston Reporting Fellow at The New York Times, where she contributed to coverage of the 2008 recession. She has also written for the Wall Street Journal, Reuters and Tampa Bay Times.
